The editing in my music video was fairly basic, Following my proposed image of the product as a whole I didnt want anything fancy that would take away from the storyline of the piece. This meant that my editing process consisted mostly of cutting and ordering clips and basic colour changes.
The chorus of the song is repeated, and I was keen to have some sort of noticeable repitition within the actual video. I chose a certain dance section which fits with the chorus, and got my actors to dance it in different locations, using this footage for the various chorus' within the song.
I decided to use Windows Movie Maker as this is the easiest software format to be able to cut and paste clips.
After converting all of the video files into a WMM readable format I began to order them in a way that would tell a typical base of a romantic story, making sure that I looked into continuity closely where possible.
I also have a couple of short stop motion sections within my music video, I did this by taking a set of images whilst an action was being performed. Due to the way I took images as the actor was moving a few of the images have a blurred hand or item within them, making the overall section look like it is a video clip that is slightly lagging. If I had the equipment available to me and a larger time period I would of made this particular bit of editing better.
The editing process took a few weeks of work, sorting, cutting and pasting over 60 different video clips. I didnt find many problems with this process it was just a process of concentration and watching the clips over and over again, finding moments in the music when it would be appropriate for certain clips.

Production: Structure of Music Video
The Structure of my music video includes two seperate sections, the first I refer to as the 'Real Life' section and the second the 'Dream' section.
The sections tend to be one after the other, occasionally there will be multiple sections but most of the time they are every other clip.
The 'Real Life' sections are in full colour, this is to make it look as real as possible so that the viewer understands that what they are seeing is a naturalistic scene and what is actually happening in the persons life.
The 'Dream' sections are in black and white and are most often sections of dance, this is to show that they are surreal. It is what the person is wanting to happen, and what they are imagining time together would be like.
At the end of the video the shot changes from colour to black and white, I did this to end the video on a high note and almost say that the dream has become a reality.

Production: Health and Safety Factors
It is important that whenever producing any kind of video task, Health and Safety is looked into and followed to assure that everyone involved is not at risk of any danger to themselves or others.

• Carpet, avoid certain clothing for friction burn.
• Height of set and ceiling to avoid bashing heads
• Locations without any possible injury dangers
• Warm-ups, vocal and physical
• Props placed carefully in the space
• Fire extinguishers checked for location and use

Production: Cast List
For my music video I have decided to use two people, I have chosen Abbie Steer and Jacob Pollock. Knowing that they do a lot of partnered dance work together I was keen to use this as an attribute in my video. They feel comfortable working closely together and follow instructions.

The costume and styling for my chosen cast members didnt require much, the idea behind the video is that they are ordinary everyday people. So I told them to wear clothes that they would usually wear, and not dress up for the camera. This meant I had a more real life video.

Production: First day of filming
Today I am going to go to 3 different locations to film my cast;
The first is the Nobel School, in the Study Room, Corridor and pavements outside.
The Second is Fairlands Valley Park, this is a big green area that has different lakes and activity areas.
The Final place I will be filming today is the Town Centre and Leisure Park, this involves many passers by and lots of buildings as a back drop.
Evaluation of Filming day
The filming day went well today, we spent around an hour in each location and got a variety of shots in each. I made sure that I filmed each clip a couple of times so that when I come to editing I have more than enough to play around with. Abbie and Jacob both listened to instruction well and did everything I asked them to do.
Overall an excellent day.

Analysis of a music video using Mulveys Theory: Birdy "Skinny Love"
I chose to analyse this particular music video as the genre and target audience relate closely to those that Ed Sheeran is also involved with.
Mulveys Theory is not present at all in this particular music video, as the artist 'Birdy' has chosen just to have herself in this video and as she is still quite young, there is no appearance of men or the male gaze.
This music video offers shots of the artist herself, and the setting that she has chosen to film in.
The only part of Mulveys Theory that could be taken as truthful in the case of this music video would be the idea that women are objects to look at, the artist has chosen a nice outfit and has made an effort with make-up, which could be seen as appealing to a certain audience. Although due to the age of the artist, it is more so likely that this is just her everyday clothing choice, and she was keen to be herself in her music videos, similar to Ed Sheeran.
Analysis of a music video using Goodwins Theory: Joshua Radin "I Missed You""
Goodwins theory is based on 8 key ideas that are present in music videos. I will analyse how far this is true for this particular music video.
1.Links between lyrics and visuals
Goodwin suggest that visuals will relate to the lyrics that are present at the time. This is quite true in this particular video, as the artist is singing the lyrics whilst being filmed and is also in the particular scene or scenerio that the lyrics mention.
2.Links between Music and visuals
He also suggests that the general mood and tempo of the music will have some relation with the visuals. The mood of this song is quite happy and up beat, this is present by the sunny day time scene that is presented to us within the music video.
3.Genre Characteristics
He says that there are stereotypical forms and values that certain genres take, and that these are included in each video. This can be seen to be true in this video, the typical guitar that acoustic, folk artists are related to is present in the majority of the video. The artist is also dressed in a care free everyday attire as apposed to something expecially for the video.
4.Intertextual Reference
Goodwin suggests that there are references to other mediums within music videos, wether it be a laptop showing a website or a mobile phone. Intertextual reference is not apparent in this particular video, this could be to do with the genre, acoustic and folk artists are not stereotyped with having gadgets and technoligy around them, so wouldnt have that in there videos.
5.Notions of looking
This shows us the way that someone is seen and the gaze in which they are seen through, according to Goodwin, Women are often seen as objects. This isnt true in this video, the main artist meets a lot of people whilst journeying around in this video, and treats all of them as equals and as friends to him. This is heightened by the camera angles used when filming these particular scenes, the meeting situations always offer each person involved to be equal and friendly.
6.Voyeurism
This is when other people look at the artist or see an insight into their life. We can see this exampled in this video as we are being given a story of the artists journey around America.
7.Demands of the record label
The record label have the power to say what they think the artist should be represented as, so they will want shots of the artist in a certain outfit or position and this will be shown many times. This is very true in this video, the whole theme is situated around Joshua Radin, so he is the cameras focus for a high percentage of the time.
8.Performance,Narrative or concept based music videos
Goodwin says that music videos are often Narrative based and bring the music into a story like form.This is true in this video, the lyrics and video together offer a story of Joshua Radin catching lifts all around America and writing postcards to a girl that he misses.
